[ Why are dinosaurs so smug? ]

2nd-Jul-2011 03:54 am - better than children? HAH.

I had some trouble getting to sleep because two tigers were sometimes running on the bed and down my back in disregard to my feelings about being run-on, and when not doing that, they were attacking each other in wild thumps and crashes.

I put them outside the bedroom and put the baby gate up.

A minute later there was an awful sad whining noise. Then another, one I hadn't heard before. I got up and Duke was sitting on my side of the gate and Bonzo the other.

I handed Duke over to the other side and watched them both discuss strategies and then eventually make it back into the bedroom.

So now Duke is asleep on a chair and Bonzo is sleeping under the lamp and I AM NOT SLEEPING AND MAYBE WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN. That is my take on the situation.

When I try to grocery-shop at Whole Foods when I'm tired my brain turns to pudding.

Yesterday I wanted salmon for dinner. I don't like Jewel's seafood counter (low levels on the fresh and delicious scales) so I asked my nav-kit to tell me if there were any Meijer stores in the area. My nav-kit blinked several times and then suggested I drive twelve miles. I suggested it might want to look up alternate grocery stores and the computer told me I was a wimp but that there was a Wild Oats about three miles away.

Three is better than twelve.

This was a Wild Oats that had been eaten by Whole Foods but it looked on the small side. As soon as I walked in the door I knew I was in trouble, though.

The stacks of fruit concerned me. I stopped to look at dark looking bananas. Are these plantains? I don't like either bananas or plantains but I want to know. Look at that guy making indentations in the ice with an olive oil bottle. How much is that guacamole? How can they charge that much, does anybody buy this stuff?

In an effort to focus I repeated in my head what we were having for dinner, what I needed to buy, and tried to tunnel-vision my way through the frozen foods WHAT IS IN THE SNACK BAR no focus focus you need WHAT IS ALMOND CHEESE, INTERESTING.

Soon I was wandering in the soap aisle muttering to myself out loud.

My roommate invited Stephan Pastis to my birthday party.

Any questions about the circle-of-life going on in my house have been answered since I seem to have a large spider bite on my knee that hurts in a distracting "what was I doing besides thinking about my knee" way.

The spiders that have been eating the ants will be displaced at a time and method of my choosing. And I haven't seen many ants lately. There are several possible reasons. Possibly, the spiders have been eating all the ants. More likely, I haven't been around enough to notice. (This morning when I woke up in my own room my brain was confused, where the hell are you.)
9th-Jul-2009 11:48 am - oh lovely

early this morning I saw, hey, there is tea spilled on the carpet, let's clean this up so it doesn't stain. I went into the laundry room to grab carpet cleaner and then became distracted because I thought my roommate was standing there only it was the vacuum cleaner with her beach hat placed on the handle. went downstairs and sprayed on the cleaner, swiping at a small drip on the air mattress that was on the floor next to the spill. hmm, this smells like bleach, that's nice, it will clean well.

...

tonight come downstairs OH GOD WHY IS THE GREY CARPET LIGHT BEIGE oh yeah great that was bleach, hey what does bleach do, idiot, it bleaches things.

to add insult to injury the spot on the mattress is also, oh, very clean, but bleached.

my immediate thought (after the horror) -- okay, just dye the carpet spot grey, we'll try to match the color and

STOP
NO
STOP

really stop before you hurt yourself, quit making plans to dye the carpet.

no lists and sketches, instead I just freak out. skip the middle.
[I just removed a small feather from the pin-holes venting computer-air, and it is a reminder that sometimes I determine how good a day it is by remembering if I saw an interesting bird.]
